Jesus Healed Peter’s Mother-in-law and Others

“And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them. And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ,” Luke 4:39, 41.

The ministry of Jesus was non-stop. After delivering the man in the synagogue from a demon, Jesus went to Peter’s home and healed Peter’s mother-in-law who had “a great fever” (verse 38). Notice the mother-in-law’s reaction after the healing, “immediately she arose and ministered unto them” (verse 39). Her reaction was one of praise and service.

Jesus did not stop after He healed Peter’s mother-in-law. “Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them” (verse 40). The diseased were healed and devils came out of many by the power of Jesus Christ.

Jesus came “to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). He never wavered from His mission during His ministry. One writer stated that in all the record of the gospels, “We only have about fifty days of the ministry of Jesus recorded.” This is a mind boggling statement, especially, when you consider John 21:25, “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.”

CHALLENGE

“For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps” (1 Peter 2:21).
