The Proofs of the Resurrection
“After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time,” 1 Corinthians 15:7, 8.
I have a confession to make. I am a true crime fanatic! I enjoy following real stories, all the way through the court proceedings, verdict and sentencing. I have had the opportunity to serve on two juries and that has fed my interest in the criminal justice system that much more. One thing I have found is that one eyewitness does not hold a lot of weight. You better have more evidence for sure! Two eyewitnesses are much better, if they are credible. But three or more credible witnesses is golden. Yet, that is just a drop in the bucket when you look at the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The number of witnesses that saw Jesus alive after His death on the cross is overwhelming! Not only did His apostles see Him, but many of His other disciples saw and interacted with Him, including over five hundred brethren at one time (verse 6). But perhaps Paul’s encounter with Christ is the most compelling. Here is Paul, possibly the greatest enemy to Christ and His people at that time. He met the Lord Jesus on the road to Damascus and it changed his world. Paul surrendered himself to testifying of the risen Christ, and it caused him great suffering and even his life. But just think of how many trusted Christ because of his testimony.
We too, are proof of the resurrection of Christ! As a child of God, you have been gloriously saved by the blood of Christ and have life because of Him (2 Corinthians 4:14). We serve a risen Savior and He works in our lives continually. Has Jesus changed your life? Share your testimony. He is risen!
REFLECTION
Many believe Jesus lived and died on the cross, but do not believe He arose. Be the proof they need.
