Paul’s Confidence

“Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place,” 2 Corinthians 2:14.
When some people enter a room, they brighten it up. Unfortunately, some people darken a room when they enter. There are people like that in our workplace. Some folks we are glad to see report to work; others we wish would call in sick more often. One thing is evident: the people who brighten a room or a workplace are also generally confident people. I did not say arrogant, I said confident, and there is a difference.
If we are saved, we are current partakers of victory through the Lord Jesus Christ. Please notice I never said we will be victorious. We are currently victorious. Right here, and right now, Jesus has given us victory over our sin and the promise of eternal life with Him in Heaven. The words in our devotional verse “causeth us to triumph“ can also be rendered that Jesus “leads us in triumphant procession.” I rather like that rendering, and the visual image it creates in my mind. Not only should we live in victory, but we should display that knowledge to everyone around us all the time.
So, the question is how do we enter the room? Are we walking triumphantly with our leader, Jesus Christ, spreading the savor and aroma of His salvation to all around us? The idea of our presence literally bringing the savor, or fragrance, of the knowledge of Him is very descriptive. What Christians bring along with them as they move through the world should be so evident that people can metaphorically smell it. What are you bringing along? Do you brighten or darken the room?

Just a Thought
Are you walking like you are victorious, or are you walking like you are struggling to obtain victory? You do not have to struggle because Jesus has done that for you.
