God Blesses Us When We Give
“There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty,” Proverbs 11:24.
The world says to hold on tightly, but God says to let go generously. In His kingdom, blessings flow not by hoarding but by sharing. The one who “scattereth,” freely giving what he has, discovers that God continually replenishes his store. But the one who withholds, clutching tightly to his possessions, finds that what he keeps slips quietly through his fingers.
The principle is simple: God delights in a generous heart. He blesses those who bless others. Giving opens our lives to His abundance, not because we earn His favor, but because generosity aligns our hearts with His. Our Heavenly Father is the greatest Giver—every breath, every sunrise, every drop of grace flows from His hand. When we give, we reflect His character and participate in His work.
Verse 25 reminds us, the person who refreshes others finds refreshment in return. Whether through kind words, acts of service, or financial gifts, every offering given in love becomes seed for future joy. The one who blesses others is never poorer for it. God’s blessings may not always come in material form, but they always come—in peace, in purpose, and in His abiding presence.
Thought For Today
Generosity is not measured by the size of your gift but by the size of your heart. Look for an opportunity today to give (time, encouragement or resources) and trust that God will pour back into your life more than you could ever give away.
