The Best Valentines Ever

“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you,” John 14:12.

Have you ever had a Valentines day that has stuck out to you as being one of the most memorable? Maybe the love of your life got you a bouquet of roses or an expensive box of chocolates. Perhaps it is remembered because of the romantic dinner and walk around the park. Those moments are treasured memories in our hearts and will not be forgotten easily.

I had a Valentines such as this. It was a few years ago now but I remember it as if it were yesterday. It was something I had never before encountered. So life changing, so drastically different that it would forever cause a ricochet effect in my heart. This Valentines treat blew my mind so grandly that no Valentines in the future even will ever compare.

You may be thinking what in the world was this?! Well, it was a Sunday to be exact at around 11:30 pm. No greater love had been shown to me than this night. The night I realized I was in dire need of a Savior and was on my way to a godless existence for eternity. The night God showed me how much He really did love me. The night I got saved.

You may not have such a memorable Valentines such as this, but if you really think about it you actually do. Every day God shows His great love for us. He so desires our hearts to be knitted with His and wants nothing more than our love back. His passionate grace and unending mercy are poured out every moment of our existence.

VBS programs will be emerging only a few months after Valentines ushering in many opportunities for young souls to be forever changed by the momentous gospel of Christ. Our part is immense in that we are the catalyst that brings those children to the realization of their need for salvation. We do not do the saving of course, but we are used by God to witness, proclaim and share our faith with those children. Their young hearts await this change whether they are looking for it or not.

This should cause us to live a consecrated life dedicated to God. It is our commitment to Him, our everyday acts and purpose. Those future young souls are depending on this type of love from us. They deserve our commitment to Christ the same as our loved ones deserve it. They may be young, sometimes snotty and obnoxious, yet they are the future of the church. God so loves them the same as He loves us every day.

As we continue with this month of love, remember that God so loved us that He was willing to die for our enumerable sins. His desire is for our desires to be His. Let us learn to die daily to ourselves and love God with our whole being. Let this Valentines be a memorable day because He first loved us.
