Daily Devotional for Sunday, November 23
Life Is a Gift from God
“For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have aid, For we are also his offspring,” Acts 17:28.
Life is a precious gift from God. We do not know the number of our days. Thus, we should be grateful for every waking moment and use each day to serve God fervently.
Just days before penning these words, I received tragic news of the death of four dear friends in a plane crash. They had been traveling to sing gospel songs, encourage fellow Christians and share the gospel as they were going. I find myself struggling to grasp the reality that they are gone so suddenly. Yet, in just a few days of this writing, I will travel to their small town outside Atlanta, Georgia, to attend their memorial services.
These dear friends lived their lives to the fullest in service to God. They never missed an opportunity to take a mission trip, minister in churches, and share the gospel in the halls of Congress or in the streets of their small Georgia town. My text messages are filled with encouragement from them in some of my most difficult times and celebration in my joyful times.
They lived for Christ as if each day would be their last so as not to miss any opportunity of ministry placed before them. What an extraordinary example to us of the truths in our key verses today. Live each day to the fullest for Christ, for it may be your last.
DAILY REMINDER
Life is indeed a gift from God. He created us, sustains us and desires a relationship with us.
