The Enemies’ Ignorance
“But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against an house falleth. If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you, Luke 11:17-20.
In this passage, Jesus responds to accusations that He cast out devils by the power of Satan. He revealed a simple yet profound truth: a divided kingdom cannot stand. If Satan were working against himself, his reign would crumble. But the Pharisees, blinded by their own ignorance and resistance to Christ, failed to see the power of God at work.
The enemy’s ignorance is his downfall. Satan has always sought to disrupt, deceive and destroy, yet his own schemes ultimately led to his defeat. He thought he won at the cross, but the resurrection proved otherwise. He tempts believers with lies, yet, the truth of God’s Word exposes him. He stirs division, yet unity in Christ overcomes him.
As believers, we must recognize the tactics of the enemy and stand firm in Christ’s authority. Jesus makes it clear: “He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth” (Luke 11:23). There is no neutral ground in spiritual warfare. We are either advancing the kingdom of God or allowing the enemy to sow discord and deception in our lives.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE
Let us not be ignorant of Satan’s devices but instead, walk in discernment, knowing that in Christ, we have victory. Stay rooted in truth, united in faith, and unwavering in your commitment to God’s kingdom. The enemy may be at work, but his ignorance is no match for God’s power.
