The Rejoicing over the Found Coin
“Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth,” Luke 15:10
The 1849 Double Eagle is currently the rarest and most valuable coin in the world, with an estimated value of around $20 million. In 1934 before these coins were released into the public, the US government ordered that all privately held Double Eagle coins be melted down as part of the Gold Reserve Act. There were only supposed to be two left and they were owned by the US government. However, another one was found and is privately owned. It was sold to an anonymous buyer at auction in June 2021 for $18.9 million.
The lost coin in the parable is a picture of each and every person in this world. The value of the coin is a declaration of each person’s value in the estimation of God and all the heavenly hosts. The value of the coin does not change whether it is lost or found. However, the soul is of such value to God that when one sinner repents and places faith in the gospel of Jesus for forgiveness of sin, there is an eruption of elation in the throne room of God. At the point of faith in the gospel, that soul is now the dear possession of God, and He safely holds that coin evermore in his hands, never again to be lost.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Your soul is worth more than the whole world. God values you and rejoices over you dear child of God!
