The Counsel of the Lord

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand,” Proverbs 19:20, 21.

Have you ever made a plan only to have it undone later by your boss or his bosses? It can be frustrating to think you have everything ironed out and a great plan in place only to have the metaphorical rug pulled from under you. Do you know something? You may have been correct, and your plan was better than your boss’. After all, bosses are only human and make human errors. What do we do when that happens? Do we happily go along, or do we bow up and rebel? I imagine, or I know from personal experience, that often we do not go quietly into the night!

We may be the most intelligent humans we know; in our minds, we usually are. In some cases, that might be true. We may be the most capable person. Our plan might be flawless and without error. To us, and even to those around us, it might be the best possible option in a given situation. The problem is that we are limited in the time and space we can see and observe. Some of us do have the ability to see the “big picture.” We might even be able to think strategically as the business world likes to say. Again, the problem is that we cannot see the “big picture” in an eternal sense outside space and time.

Do you know that God sees the beginning from the end? He sees, knows and plans the eternal big picture. Most importantly, God knows what His eternal and preordained plan is, not only for this world but also for you. His plan is always better. Why do you claim superior knowledge and rebel against it?

JUST A THOUGHT

God’s plan will always be better than ours, and if we have any sense, we would accept that and follow it.
