God’s Will Must Prevail

“But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches,” 1 Corinthians 7:17.

We had a man join our church who had recently gotten out of prison. Because of a bad decision when he was a young man, he was sentenced to life in prison. In the course of time, he heard about Jesus and accepted Him as his Savior. After accepting Jesus, he began a transformation while in prison. He became resigned to the fact that he would spend the rest of his life in prison and that he had to serve the Lord while incarcerated. Much to his surprise, he became eligible for parole and his freedom was granted after serving 25 years. He was now free to serve the Lord as a free man also.

God calls people while in different situations that might not seem to be very conducive to a life of service for Him. No matter what your situation, God knew what He was doing when He called you from the darkness into his marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9). You may not always like the situation you find yourself in, but God not only can, but wants to fulfill His will in your life. Wherever you find yourself, God still has a plan for you and wants to grow you to, “Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen” (Hebrews 13:21). God may work in mysterious ways, but it should not be a mystery what His will is for you and that it is important.

REFLECTION

Have you ever thought about why God created you and would want His will accomplished in your life? “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created” (Revelation 4:11).
