Vision of the Summer Fruit

“And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the Lord unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more. And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord God: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence,” Amos 8:2, 3.

When a seed is planted, it is the expectation of the planter that what is planted will grow because God’s universal principle is that you reap what you sow. The Lord revealed a message to the Israelites through Amos that they were about to reap what they had sown. The Lord would no longer cover Israel because of their taking advantage of the poor, because of their greed, deceitfulness and disobedience to His commands. These were the things Israel had sown. In life you will reap what you have sown. Galatians 6:8, “For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” If you are wise you will sow spiritual things that are pleasing to the Lord so that your life will be full of good fruit. Spiritual seeds that can be planted are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. God plants these seeds in the believer, and if you allow them to be developed in you, they bring forth abundant spiritual fruit in your life. For fruit to get to the place that it can be harvested, it has to go through various seasons. Seasons may bring a variety of challenges, difficulties and changes, however, if your life is watered by planting God’s Word in your heart, you will see good fruit brought forth in your life.

FINAL THOUGHT
Bring forth fruit that is worthy, not fruit that withers.
