The Reassuring by Jesus
“And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them,
and saith unto them, Peace be unto you,” Luke 24:36.
When Jesus appeared to His disciples after His resurrection, their first reaction was fear and doubt. They supposed they had seen a spirit. Despite all He had told them before His death, their hearts were still overwhelmed by confusion. Yet, Jesus, full of mercy, did not rebuke them. Instead, He reassured them, offering His hands and His feet as proof of His real, living presence. Jesus knew their weakness. He knew they needed tangible reassurance to restore their shaken faith. He met them where they
were, with tenderness and patience. Then, to further comfort them, He asked for something to eat (verse 41), demonstrating He was not a ghost but fully alive.
In this simple but profound moment, Jesus showed us that He is patient with our doubts. He does not abandon us when we are afraid or slow to believe. Instead, He invites us closer, bidding us to look, to touch, to see. His presence brings peace where fear once ruled. His wounds testify that He has conquered death, and His nearness reminds
us we are never alone. When we face moments of fear or uncertainty, Jesus still comes to us with the same reassurance. He invites us to trust Him more deeply and to know that His promises are sure. His resurrection is not a distant story; it is a living hope for each of us today.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
When fear clouds your heart, remember Jesus stands ready to reassure you.
His presence drives out fear and strengthens our faith.
Rest in the living, faithful Savior who meets you right where you are.
