The Goal of the Law

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation,” Romans 10:9, 10.
Have you ever encountered someone in the workplace who makes his job seem more complicated than it is? That is called job security. Because knowledge is indeed power, if I am the only person who knows how to do something, I can always use your lack of that knowledge to exercise power over you. Even if it is only the power to keep you from firing me, it is power.
Would you believe that people also use religion as a way to exercise power over other people? Another saying is “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” If a person is put in a position of power, it seems the majority use it for their own good. Even those in a position of spiritual leadership fall into that trap.
The point being made is that salvation is blazingly simple. Read the devotional verse. It is just that simple. There are no rules, conditions or requirements that must be met, other than a confession of faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If someone tries to tell you differently, then he is attempting to create a gateway between you and God other than the Lord Jesus Christ. He is attempting to exercise power over you. If someone gets to make the rules of salvation, he gets to decide if you are saved. If you must obtain forgiveness from any person, then he can convince you that he holds power over your soul. Salvation is between you and Jesus; do not let anyone try to put himself in the middle of that.

Just a Thought
God has made salvation simple and straightforward; if anyone presents it as complicated, that is their doing, not God’s.
