Paul’s Trip to Macedonia

“Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts,” 2 Corinthians 1:21, 22.
Communication has changed drastically in the world today. Letters are seldom written in lieu of texts and other forms of contacting each other. However, have you ever told someone you would stop by for a visit or maybe make a promise to get together soon? Today, commitments like those might fall through because of busyness or forgetfulness. Your integrity might suffer. Not so with Paul.
Paul had told the Corinthians he would stop to visit them during his journey to and from Macedonia. Those who did not trust Paul ridiculed him. They said he did not follow through with what he said, thus trying to make him untrustworthy. This was not the case though. Verse 23 says, “Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth.”
The last communication Paul had with them was not so gentle because of some things the church was allowing. He did not want discord or tension to arise. Yet, he wanted them to know his love for them. Through the letter, he reminded them that all things he had preached to them concerning Christ was true. They also were reminded that all the promises of God are true. It is God who established them, and they and Paul alike were anointed by God.
Paul had good reason not to visit Corinth at the time. His reply to those who thought him a liar was to remind them of the promises of God by whom they were sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise.

Something to Think About
It is most important to obey God and to be where and when He wants you.
