Swearing, Lying, Killing, Stealing

“Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land,” Hosea 4:1.
We will never be able to fully grasp the magnificence of our Lord this side of Heaven. But to recognize and appreciate the majesty and holiness of Almighty God is profoundly vital to the abundant life of a child of God. The prophet Isaiah saw the Lord in the Temple, high and lifted up. He heard the seraphim cry out, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory” (Isaiah 6:3). Isaiah was so moved by the vision of God’s glory; it caused him to see clearly his own sinful condition and that of his nation. He said, “Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts” (Isaiah 6:5).
The people of Israel had taken their eyes off the most holy God. They had forgotten the great power by which He delivered them from bondage in Egypt. There was no knowledge of God, and the nation was full of idolatry and immorality of every kind.
When we fail to recognize the magnificent holiness of our great God, we will soon fall away as Israel did. The land was full of lying, stealing, killing, adultery and violence. Does this sound familiar? As God’s people, we need to fill our land with the knowledge of the Almighty! Do not be afraid to tell people about our magnificent, holy God that sent His only begotten Son to save sinners like us. May we fill our nation with truth, mercy and the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

REFLECTION
I encourage you to take time each day to reflect on God’s majesty, with thanksgiving for salvation in and through Jesus Christ.
