The Plea
“We then as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.),” 2 Corinthians 6:1, 2.
Paul’s words in these verses carry the tone of a heartfelt appeal—a plea from one who knows both the mercy of God and the urgency of His call. As “workers together with him,” Paul reminded us that the grace extended through Christ was not to be taken lightly. Grace is more than pardon—it is power. It redeems, restores and transforms. To receive that grace in vain would be to acknowledge it with our lips but deny it through a life unchanged.
There is an urgency in Paul’s voice: “Now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” How easily we assume there will be another moment, another season, another opportunity to respond. Yet, Paul reminded us that the call of God is always now. Every breath we take is a moment of grace extended, and every heartbeat echoes with the invitation to draw nearer to Christ.
This plea is not only for the unbeliever but for every child of God who has grown dull to divine things. The Lord’s grace is meant to move us—to rekindle our love, renew our obedience and restore our fellowship. Let us not let His grace fall upon barren soil. The time to respond, to yield and to walk fully with Him is today.
Today’s Challenge
Do not delay in responding to the promptings of God’s Spirit. Whatever He is calling you to surrender, obey or renew, you should act on it now. Grace is given for today; let it not be in vain.
