The Reassurance

“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven,” 2 Corinthians 5:1, 2.
The Scriptures give many analogies of being spiritually clothed. For instance, the armor of God. Put on the six pieces of this vital armor to be protected against your enemy, the devil (Ephesians 6:11-18). As a child of God, you are clothed in righteousness. Regarding the Scripture reading today, you not only put on spiritual clothing as you walk this Christian life, but also one day you will be clothed within a spiritual house. Your body will be changed from an earthly, fleshly body to a spiritual, glorified body.
This is your reassurance. The topic of the last few devotionals have been centered on suffering. While it is true you will go through many hardships physically, emotionally, and mentally, feeling much pain and sorrow through your trials and circumstances, you have a hope and an anchor in Christ. What keeps you going even though you might sometimes think of giving up?
It is the expectation God has given through His Word of better things to come. It is your belief in these things that keeps you going through God’s grace. Unfortunately, many Christians do not grasp that the other side of life on earth is glory, and they walk away from Christ. They will never lose their salvation, but they do lose out on a lot of rewards, one of which will be reigning with Him (2 Timothy2:12).
In the meantime as you wait, continue to focus on such scriptures as Colossians 3:1, 2, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”

Something to Think About
Do not give up! Hold on! As a Christian there are better things for you!
