Jonah in Prayer

“Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly,” Jonah 2:1.
Disobedience to God will cause big problems in your life and the Lord knows the right amount of heat to put you in, in order to cause you to humble yourself and pray. Jonah’s prayer showed that he changed his mind-set and direction, just as prayer can change your circumstances and disposition when you humbly and sincerely present your petitions to the Lord.
The account of Jonah reveals that you can pray while you are having problem. An element of your prayer is to acknowledge the affliction that has humbled you. Repent of your decision to disobey God’s directions and commit yourself to follow the plan God has in the assignment He has given you. Realize God’s position and acknowledge that He is in control and is available to help you.
Through prayer you can take your attention off of the problem and focus on being thankful to God. Through prayer you are enabled to become determined to be obedient to God. Prayer helps change your direction, through prayer God can change your disposition, enlighten your perspective and deliver you from being overcome. Psalm 4:1, “Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.”

FINAL THOUGHT
Prayer is the light when your problem has you in a dark place.
