The Revealing by Jesus
“And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations,
beginning at Jerusalem,” Luke 24:47.
In the first few months of his ministry the people of Jesus’ hometown of Nazareth tried to kill Him by throwing Him off a cliff. What caused such an uprise? Jesus was clear that even though most of the Jews would not accept Him, like the widow of Sidonia and Naaman the Syrian, the Gentiles would believe on Him and be part of God’s plan (Luke 24—30). Even before this, Jesus had spoken with Nicodemus a ruler of the Jews and told him the same thing when He said, “For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). In today’s text, Jesus did not say anything new but the same thing He had been saying throughout His three and a half year ministry. In this Scripture, He revealed to them that the will of God was that the Son of
Man would die as the sacrificial Lamb for the sin of the world and then rise again the third day as Scripture had recorded. Even more Jesus is opening their eyes that God’s purpose is not to just save the Jewish believers from their sins but to save people of all nations as Scripture has recorded.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
God’s plan is not only for you and your people but for people of all nations. God has called all of His
disciples to be part of this mission. Have you obediently embraced this revelation in your life?
