Micah Praises God’s Mercy

“Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy,” Micah 7:18.
Mercy is the withholding punishment from someone who deserves punishment even though you have the right to execute the punishment. A police officer pulls you over because you are driving fifty miles an hour in a school zone with posted speed limit of twenty five miles per hour. You know you deserve the ticket and the officer knows you deserve the ticket, however, the officer releases you without a ticket. Would your response be to drive off complaining and murmuring? Your response should be that you praise and thank the officer for his forgiveness, goodness and understanding because he released you without punishment.
In Micah 7, Micah experienced deliverance from his enemy and difficult circumstances. Micah did not linger on the circumstances, he praised the Lord because the Lord is unique and superior. He praised the Lord for His forgiveness, for His mercy and compassion.
If you know Jesus Christ as your Savior, He has delivered you from certain death and eternity in hell because that is what you deserve by being a natural born sinner. Like Micah your heart should be filled with praise to the Lord for loving you enough to be your substitute on the cross so your sins can be forgiven.

FINAL THOUGHT
Christ conquered death for you and cleanses you when you confess your sins, and He performs His good work in your life.
