The End of Amaziah’s Life
“Now after the time that Amaziah did turn away from following the Lord they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent to Lachish after him, and slew him there,” 2 Chronicles 25:27.
There was an Olympic sprinter who beat everyone he raced, however, there was one opponent that he could just not outrun no matter how hard he trained, his name was past. He could not outrun his past. This is not a true story, however, it does apply to life and it describes the end of Amaziah’s life. King Amaziah spent the end of his life on the run because of his past decision to bring idol gods into his life, set them up and worship them, which drew God’s anger. As a child of God, there are decisions that you can make that are contrary to God’s Word and principles, which always result in negative consequences that you cannot escape. Amaziah had accomplished good things and experienced great victories in his reign as king, however, making a decision against God’s commands earlier in his life cost him dearly at the end of his life. To have an ending in life that is desirable, remember the Lord in the days of your youth.
FINAL THOUGHT
Lord, may our last days be our best days.
