The Comfort of the Scriptures

“Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: that ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Romans 15:5, 6.
I could not tell you how often I have heard the phrase, “I don’t know what I would do without my church family.” Honestly, I could not tell you how many times I have said it myself. I am incredibly blessed to have a church family that is there for one another. Whether it be a friend to talk to, rescue on the side of the road, or a hot meal when I am down and cannot fend for myself, someone in my church family will fill that need at the first text or phone call. They are always there to provide comfort and sustenance to me.
When Jesus returned to Heaven after His earthly death, He did not leave us alone. He left us a Comforter in the person of the Holy Spirit to live in us and be there for us at all times. All we have to do is call, and the full power of God the Holy Spirit is there for us. I mean no insult to my church family, but God should always be my first call for help and comfort.
However, sometimes God’s help comes in the form of another person who has allowed himself to be empowered by the Holy Spirit to provide comfort and sustenance to others. The Holy Spirit inspired Paul to write this guidance for us; therefore, it is God’s command to us. We are to be toward each other as Jesus Christ was toward us.
What would the world be like if every believer considered his actions in comparison to Jesus before he acted?

Just a Thought
That phrase, which was a fad a while back, “What would Jesus do?” It is still a good guide on how we ought to act around others.
