Paying Tribute to Casear
“And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which be Cæsar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s,” Luke 20:25.
Data shows that in 2019 about 153.9 million individual tax returns were filed for 2018 incomes. It was reported that 520,000 of those returns were audited. In recent years an average of 2,500 Americans are actually convicted of tax crimes including evasion and fraud. That is a very small percentage of the whole population. The vast majority of Americans are tax-paying people even though the majority of them also believe they pay too much.
This information made me wonder if Americans are as good at giving to God the things that belong to Him. Would not it be wonderful if we cared as much if God is getting His fair share as whether people are paying their fair share to the government? Giving to God the things that belong to God encompasses all aspects of life, including worship, obedience, and moral conduct. Just as the coin bore the image of Caesar every human being bears the image of God. God’s fair share is to give all of yourself to Him. You could never give Him too much, He already gave everything for you on the cross of Calvary.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Are you giving God His fair share? If an audit of your life was made would you be found evading what you owe God?
