The Reconciling
“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God,” 2 Corinthians 5:19, 20.
From an early age, young children should be taught how to be kind, loving and respectful. This is important because all people are born in sin, which also means all people are selfish and, for the most part, only live to please themselves. Is this not why we have such division among different races and cultures? Instead of accepting people for who they are and focusing on how they can be ministered to so they may hear the gospel, the focus is on wanting everyone to have the same opinion.
Paul was a minister of diverse people. He witnessed to the poor on the streets as well as the rulers of the empire. Even though how people live differ, all saved, rich and poor alike, are reconciled together as one in Christ. The blood of Christ should unify people to not live in selfishness but in love. Verse 15 states, “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.”
All saved have been made a new creation in Christ because the old has passed away and all things are new. Meaning your motives for what you do and how you live have changed. Paul changed from a persecutor to an ambassador for Christ. And that is what you are also, an ambassador.
Paul was an ambassador, a representative of Christ and a messenger of the gospel. His new focus was to reconcile all to God, for this is the reason Christ died (Ephesians 2:16).
Something to Think About
Do you realize you are new creation in Christ not to cause division but reconciliation to others by sharing the gospel.
