Israel’s Unjust Dealings

“Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is abominable? Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful weights,” Micah 6:10, 11.
One time I went to a gas station to fill up my pickup truck. While my tank was close to empty, when I finished filling it up, the pump showed that I had put in almost two gallons more than what my gas tank held. I had never put that much gas in my truck before, and have not since. I did not appreciate having to pay for something that I did not receive, so, I let the attendant know that I thought their pump was not accurate and was charging me for more gas than I actually pumped. I then called the Department of Weights and Measures in our state to report the problem, to which they said that they would look into it. I felt like I could not trust going to this station again.
God does not like it when you cheat others out of something or are dishonest in your dealings. God’s opinion on not dealing fairly with people is, “A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight” (Proverbs 11:1). God asked Israel if they should be seen as honest when they had wicked balances (Micah 6:11). He tells them that by being wicked in this way that they will never prosper or be satisfied, but suffer for it; “Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword” (verse 14). God requires His people to be just and trustworthy.

What kind of person do you want to be known as; honest or dishonest? What does it say about a child of God that cannot be trusted; how are you representing Christ?
