Jonah in Success

“So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them,” Jonah 3:5.
In the account of Jonah, Jonah’s success was measured by his obedience to God’s commands and allowing God to use him. Jonah initially failed in this situation. He attempted to run from God, which led to him being thrown overboard on a ship, and he fell into a deep, smelly existence, hardly a testimony of success. When Jonah resolved to obey God and he went to Nineveh and preached the words God commanded him to preach, God used him to help the people of Nineveh to repent.
When you are obedient to God’s Word and make yourself available for God to use you, your life is then positioned for a good outcome which is the definition of success. You may initially fail in situations that you encounter in your life, that does not have to be the final outcome or what you are known for.
Through God’s mercy you can get up from falling, turn to God and follow His instructions for your Christian life. God calls on you to share His Word and when you are obedient to share His Word with others, it gives them the opportunity to know that they can repent from their sin and have a relationship with Jesus Christ, that is success.

FINAL THOUGHT
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:8).
