CEO’s Report - December 2024

BSSC CEO’s December 1, 2024, PR Report:
All is well in Texarkana. Our processes are on time as we complete our mission to supply study materials for the churches. The eastern port-strike did not last long and did not present much of an interruption in paper supplies. We did, however, accrue some extra paper at the time due to the possible interruption. A possible resurgence of the port strike next year and possible tariffs on imported paper does cause us concern as it may raise prices on paper. Though all is well, one thing I have learned is that when so many moving parts exist in an operation, expect problems and things breaking. Yes, it is regular. Lately has been no exception with various machines having problems. On a good note, it came a huge rain, and in the past, we have had problems with leaking into parts of the building, but after making some corrections, “no leaks” is a big deal. Thank the Lord.
Vacation Bible School materials for Summer 2025 are available in the store and on-line. Fall is a good time to get a starter kit and begin to make plans for the coming year. Also, December will start a new quarter for the through-the-Bible series. Our editorial department is working on good things for the near future. If your church is not using our Bogard Press, please remember that it is the only material written in harmony with the ABA doctrinal statement. That matters! We have materials for every age group and every time slot for class study in your church. You can look at our materials and get more information at www.bogardpress.org.
It looks a lot like Christmas in the Baptist Bookstore with gifts galore, including a large room of Bibles for your choosing. We mostly have the KJV, but also carry a few other versions as we receive requests. We have various degrees of binding, from the very nice leather to the various other man-made materials, some of which are very durable and nice. We have various colors, shapes, and sizes. We have Bibles suitable for personal use, special study use, or gifts. The store also has all the current literature published by Bogard Press available for you to pick up at the store and save on the cost of shipping. The Baptist Bookstore is unique and is the only type of store of its kind for hundreds of miles in most any direction from Texarkana. Come visit and shop.
The new paper cutter is working well. We also finished the summer well with the new A/C unit in the warehouse. Although we have had a few problems with presses and other equipment, these events are fairly normal. Generally, our equipment and facilities are in good shape. I appreciate the Committee and the 2024 ABA Messengers for allowing us to spend the funds on these items.
State associational meetings took place during November, and Brother Clements and I attended most of those meetings. November reminded me to be thankful for so many blessings. I appreciate the opportunity to labor with a great group of folks at Bogard Press and Baptist Bookstore. December is upon us, and it causes me to think of the greatest blessing of all, the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you are in Texarkana, please come visit. If I can be of any service to you, please ask. Thank you for the opportunity to serve.
