CEO’s Report - May 2025

BSSC CEO’s May 1, 2025, PR Report:

The Baptist Sunday School Committee members met together in Texarkana on the last two days of April. The meeting certainly went well. It was a good time of fellowship and a time to discuss the details of the ministry. The CEO, Editor in Chief, and Auditors all gave reports to the committee members. Discussion ensued and decisions were made where needed. The gist of the meeting is that all went well, and the ministry is healthy. We give God the glory and thanks for all good things.

As most people know, Bro Mark Clements (Editor in Chief) will be leaving the ministry after four years of doing a good job. The committee being in town for their Spring meeting gave us the opportunity to pray and discuss the filling of this position. The messengers from the churches meeting in Springfield in June will be voting for a person to take this position. I encourage the people of God to continue to pray for God to have His way in this matter.

Along with the BSSC members meeting, the officers of the American Baptist Association met in Texarkana on Tuesday, just prior to the BSSC meeting. It was a joy to join President Bryan Sellers in planning for the annual ABA meeting in June. Preliminary planning suggests it will be a wonderful event for the messengers from the churches.

Finances have been pretty good this year. Our March 31, 2025 balance was over $1.8 million, which is a fair balance, but nothing extra for a ministry this size. We are having to spend a large amount on repairs and replacements. We have two expensive Air Conditioning units that need replacing. One will cost $40,000 and the other will be $25,000. We also are in the process of upgrading I.T. equipment, which was badly needed, and this cost will be approximately $125,000. While we have been challenged with upgrades, repairs, and replacements of physical things throughout the building, I am thankful that God has provided the needed funds. We don’t have any extra to spare, but God is giving us what we need when we need it. Like the manna fell as needed, God is good to provide. He is Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord will provide.
