The Consequences of Being Under Sin

"They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one;' Romans 3:12.

Paul referenced anumber of Old Testament Scriptures in this passage. There is acommon theme to these verses, summed up in verse 10: ''As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one." Humanity has often failed to acknowledge its sinful state. Just because you or I do not admit that we are sinners does not mean that we are not sinners. To the contrary, the Bible tells us that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23).

I had aboss many years ago that could not stand confrontation. If he had aproblem with an employee, he would call me into his office, complain about that person, and then tell me to fire him. I never followed through because I did not have any authority, and he was usually only semi-serious anyway. I joked that he was one of those guys that closed his eyes and hoped all his problems disappeared.

Sadly, there are many people who treat sin the same way. They think if they ignore it or blame it on someone else or close their eyes that it will just go away. How many alcoholics or pornography addicts think they do not have a problem? The devil, through false teachers, has convinced the lost world that its sins are not significant. The devil would rather people focus on their good traits than their sinful lives.

I had a client that responded the same way every time I would try to talk to him about Jesus and salvation. He would tell me he felt like he had done enough good to get to Heaven. You probably know someone who thinks he is pretty good and may even think he is going to Heaven because he is so good. Remind him Jesus is the only Way.

CONSIDERATION

A person can never do enough good to get to Heaven.
