The Confirmation of Saul

“Then said Samuel to the people, Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there. And all the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before the LORD in Gilgal; and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before the LORD; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly,” (1 Samuel 11:14, 15).

Everybody likes to be on a winning team, and they seem to forget all their disagreements with the coaches’ choices when they win the game. Some of the people in Israel disagreed with Saul being their king (1 Samuel 10:27) and many may not have known if they could trust and follow him. Because of following the Lord’s guidance (1 Samuel 11:7) they came out and followed him into war and the Lord brought about a great victory. Because of this, all their fears and concerns had dissipated, and they were ready to follow Saul as their king and renew the kingdom (1 Samuel 11:14).

If you have ever questioned God’s leading in your life, you would not be alone because a lot of people question His choices every day. We tend to struggle with fear and doubt just like Ruth did when seemingly her back was up against the wall and she had to make a choice for the Lord that could potentially have caused her to lose her life, “For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this,” (Esther 4:14). When we decide to finally follow God’s leading and accept His choices, then He will always confirm it in us that His choices were right all along.

JUST A THOUGHT: Do not listen to all the naysayers that try to keep you from being the person God has called you to be. Rather, let Him confirm you to them.
