Hannah’s Song of Praise to God
“And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the Lord, mine horn is exalted in the Lord: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation,” I Samuel 2:1
A word of appreciation or even a simple “thank you” can go a long way. Although my children are grown, they still ask for enchilada dinner from time to time and admittedly, I dread the thought. It is a messy job and time consuming. But it is worth it all to see them devour their food and voice words of great appreciation. Sadly, having a thankful heart is a rare commodity in the world today. But for the child of God, our hearts should be filled with praise and thanks continually for all we have received from our great God.
Hannah had a spirit of gratitude toward the Lord. She was in a place of sorrow and despair and God had heard her humble prayer and given her the son that she had longed for so deeply. Her heart was full of praise as she glorified God. “There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God” (I Samuel 2:2).
Jesus Christ is worthy of all glory, honor and praise every moment of every day. He gave His very life so that we might have life forevermore. He pours out His mercy in my life continually and I am absolutely undeserving of His forgiveness and grace. Oh, how precious He is to me! Consider what Christ has done for you. Take time to meditate upon the great price that was paid on the cross of Calvary. What matchless love our Savior has for us. May we lift up and honor our Lord Jesus Christ and praise His holy name in all that we say and do for He is worthy!
REFLECTION: “I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth” (Psalm 34:1)
