The Cry of the Godly

“Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear,” Psalm 10:17.

During a Monday night football game, Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field while suffering from cardiac arrest. While trying to revive him on the field, many of the players from both teams gathered and knelt in prayer for him. Damar was revived and taken to the nearest hospital and has since made a full recovery. He credits God for saving his life. One of the amazing things that happened that night was to see so many people, who were known for showing their pride and their antics on the field of being number one when they made a good play, actually humble themselves, bow and kneel down and pray to God for His help. They showed that night that they are not superhumans and that they need the help of an all-powerful God.

It is sad sometimes that even God’s people do not turn to the Lord until they become desperate for Him. We should not wait until it all seems lost, whether it is a personal problem or a societal time of despair. We should cry out to the Lord as soon as we are aware of the problem. Our failure seems to be that we will not humble ourselves to bring the issue before the Lord. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). After we humble ourselves and call out to Him, He then prepares our hearts, and this causes Him to be able to hear us (Psalm 10:17).

JUST A THOUGHT
Maybe it is not that God has forgotten about us but that He has been waiting for us to cry out to Him before He gets involved.
