Contrasting God’s Words and Man‘s

The young mother, Sarah, sighed. “It is almost over,” she thought. She had felt that way every day now, for weeks, but this day it really was the last of the meal in the container. There was no money, even if there were more to buy. Joseph kept saying that a supply train would come, but deep down, she knew he was just trying to keep her spirits up. She had seen him begging the soldiers for more and he did not have children.

According to the United Nation website, in 2021 there were 957 million people in the world without adequate food to eat. This statistic is despite the largest group of wealthy individuals the world has ever seen. The gap between the haves and the have nots continues to grow, and some of the vilest men in history rule great swathes of the planet.

God has placed you into this extraordinary time. It is no time for empty words or good intentions. It is a time for humble service and an acknowledgement of your Creator. He has a special place in His heart for the widow, the orphan, and those who would keep themselves unspotted from the world.

If you are in need of assistance or you are able to provide assistance, God is going to bless you richly according to His Word. God always blesses the giver and those who receive as well. “He that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness” (Romans 12:8).

REFLECTION: What part do you play in God’s deliverance of the poor and needy of your generation?
