Israel’s God

The prince rides upon a mighty steed and the slave kneels in the dirt. These things are to show a difference between two human beings. Some would be offended by these distinctions, understanding that all people are created in the image of God. The Creator does not make distinction by race but clearly does make a distinction between people whom He calls His own and those who have made themselves enemies of the throne of Heaven.

On the one hand, the Creator, God would robe Himself in human flesh and dwell among us. Beyond that, He would extend to every believer the token of salvation, the very Holy Spirit of God to indwell the heart and comfort the soul. Yet to the wicked, to the ungodly, He would only offer the wrath of the Almighty administered by the righteous Judge, His Son Jesus Christ. “He that believeth on him [Jesus] is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18). “For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son” (John 5:22).

There is a difference in how God deals with people. His people rejoice in His presence. He is theirs, and they are His, joined in a spirit reconciliation to do righteousness. His enemies are scattered, unable to stand. Each person must decide whether he would be judged a child of God or an enemy of his Creator. There is a difference. “Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him. But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice” (Psalm 68:1, 3).

REFLECTION: Have you accepted Jesus as your personal Savior so that Israel’s God is your God?
