The Trust and the Treachery

“He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved. They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah,” Psalm 62:2, 4.

Have you ever had someone tell lies about you? Probably all of us have had this happen to us at one time or another. It hurts even more when the person telling the lies was someone you considered a friend or someone you thought you could trust. Sometimes, it is not a lie but something that you view as a betrayal by this trusted friend. This is why people have trust issues because they no longer know who they can trust, or if they are willing to allow themselves to be put in a position to be hurt again.

You may know or have been affected by people who tell you one thing to your face but say something different behind your back. People do the same when it comes to their relationship with the Lord (verse 4). But you can trust in the Lord and praise Him for being the rock of your salvation (verse 2). Trust is something that is earned because too many times people have had their trust betrayed. It is safe to trust in the Lord because He has never let you down. “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe” (Proverbs 29:25). When you read through the Scriptures, you see that whatever the Lord said and promised is what He delivers because He is faithful (Hebrews 10:23). “Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us” (Psalm 62:8).

REFLECTION
Others may not be trustworthy, but God is not one who will ever betray us. Can He trust you?
