Herod’s Rage Acts 12:1-4

“And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to
four quarternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter
to bring him forth to the people,” Acts 12:4.

“They said they’d put me in jail at that very moment. My infraction? Driving without an early warning device. The regulation had been implemented some weeks before and I had dutifully complied by making the purchase of two folding triangles with reflecting tape and stands and placing them for emergency use behind the seat of the truck. I replied that in fact, my truck was equipped with said devices and I’d show them if necessary. The officers refused to let me produce the things but insisted that I didn’t have the proper ones and that I was soon to be off to jail. With sidearms drawn so as to emphasize the grave nature of the situation, the command was issued to come down from the truck. I refused. Tension mounted and time passed. But the little church in Midsayap where the drama was playing out, prayed while awaiting our late arrival.”—Memoirs of a Missionary, Glen Knight

One cannot trifle with God. Not for long, at least, and not without consequences. He has ways and means that are far beyond what most people understand, especially those who are constantly trying to overrule His sovereign purposes in the world. The Bible is replete with

examples which should give the Christian great confidence, especially in these times. There are things we know that others do not. The effectiveness of prayer is one of those things. Read Matthew 5:43-48. No doubt, we have often wanted to protest the turn of events that seem so

unfair and unjust. We want to shout and demand justice! However, it is important to remember that the world may never hear yet another loud voice. But God hears our whispered prayers. And He answers.

AN AMAZING TRUTH: God is ready, willing and able to answer prayer.
