The Natural Revelation
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge,” Psalm 19:1, 2.
It has always amazed me how enormously vast the universe is. I recall when the Hubble space telescope was first launched, and the photos were released. I was awestruck! There were galaxies upon galaxies as far out as technology would allow. The beauty of the various colors was overwhelming, and each galaxy was unique. Within each galaxy are countless stars just as we see within our Milky Way Galaxy where we live. And the wonders we see with our own eyes are even more astounding as we behold the beauty of the sunrise, sunset, moon and stars with each new day. It all speaks to the majesty and glory of our Creator, Almighty God.
God has revealed Himself to man through His creation. Although the heavens do not speak in an audible voice, their glorious message that there is a great God above is heard loud and clear to the ends of the earth. The prophet Isaiah often spoke of the Lord with reference to His creation: “For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else” (Isaiah 45:18).
It is evident that the heavens and the earth and all that exists within have a wonderful designer. Sadly, we live in a time when Satan has blinded many to believe a lie about how the world began. However, the Word of God is clear that they will be without excuse because the power of God is clearly seen through His wondrous handiwork (Romans 1:20). Take time to appreciate His creation today.
REFLECTION
“O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches” (Psalm 104:24).
