Daily Devotional for Monday, May 20

Pray for God’s Messenger

“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith,” 2 Thessalonians 3:1, 2.

God commands every Christian to be baptized, then join with a scriptural church to carry out the Great Commission. As members of a local church, we have many responsibilities for our own personal growth and the growth of other members. One powerful way we can be healthy church members is to consistently pray for our pastor. Pastors are not exempt from temptations nor are they unfeeling toward the burdens of life; yet, they carry the awesome weight of faithfully loving and leading the flock to which they are called.

Here is a short list of ways you can pray for your pastor this week: Sunday – pray for God to use your pastor as he preaches God’s Word. Monday – pray for God to protect your pastor from every enemy.

Tuesday – pray for God to lead your pastor as he leads others.

Wednesday – pray for God to give your pastor divine appointments and spiritual power.

Thursday – pray for God to help your pastor as he deals with problems. Friday – pray for your pastor’s personal growth and blessing.

Saturday – pray for your pastor as he prepares to minister

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Before you complain about your pastor to others, carry him before the Lord in prayer. Encourage him by letting him know you are praying for him.
