Out of Bondage into Blessing
“When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,” Psalm 114:1.
Has there been a time in your life that you have seen God’s deliverance? Children of God can testify to God’s faithfulness in rescuing His children. The same was with Israel. They were suffering great oppression in Egypt. The Bible says they cried out to God, and He heard them (Exodus 2:23- 25). And God answered them.
After leaving Egypt, it was not long before the children of Israel started thinking that staying in Egypt would have been better. With all the things they saw the Lord do, they still showed fear at every obstacle. However, the Lord continued to show His power.
The Red Sea and the Jordan River were divided. An earthquake shook Sinai, water came from the rock. This psalm gives personification to God’s creation. God makes His creation move and obey Him. The earth trembles and quakes at the power of the Lord. Should His people be any different? God brought His children out of bondage, and His desire was to give them freedom in a land flowing with milk and honey. God has also brought you out of the bondage of sin by His power, the power of the cross. You are saved by His power (Romans 1:16), and you are kept by His power (1
Peter 1:5).
The Israelites would tend to forget Godʼs deliverance. Each time they came against an enemy they showed fear. Remember the deliverances you read about in the Old Testament and remember the things from which God has delivered you.
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
God desires to give you blessings. Do not shun them by being disobedient and not trusting in Him.
