The Celebration and the Curse

“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them,” Mark 11: 23, 24.

As Jesus led the disciples to Bethany on the way to Jerusalem, He stopped in the middle of an ordinary (for them) day and cursed a fig tree. The next day as they passed by the fig tree, Peter was astonished that the tree had withered. Jesus challenged Peter’s faith and taught that this withering fig tree was small in scope of what God could do through the faith of His children.

God’s Word instructs believers in all matters of life, especially our faith. God has told us that if we pray in faith according to His Word, there is nothing He cannot do for us. But many times we lack faith when we pray or do not even ask to begin with. Even worse, we may ask for unnecessary things to fulfill our fleshly desires. When God’s people pray according to His Word and have confident faith in His power, we can move mountains for His glory.

Just this week, a lady which our church members have been praying for received news of healing. She had been told she had liver cancer and doctors presumed the worst. After a follow up blood test, she was declared cancer free. The doctors are absolutely stunned and confused.

FINAL THOUGHT: When Christians pray in faith according to the Word of God, His power is revealed in mighty ways.
