The Tribulation
“And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven,” Mark 13:26, 27.
Though there are differing views of how and when the tribulation will come, one thing for sure is that it is coming. Jesus did not say these things for His people to be fearful of the coming devastation but to encourage them. Even though the tribulation will be hard, it ends with Jesus being victorious.
It would be agreed the things happening in the world today are disastrous both morally and physically. Yet the Scriptures say those days will be more devastating than what you would think or have even seen. Many things will be happening before, during and after those days.
This time of tribulation was prophesied in the Old Testament many times by different prophets. It was told by Jesus and other writers in the New Testament who wrote about it. It is a warning of things to come and encouragement to be faithful.
Some of the things mentioned are happening in the world today, and the question may be asked, “How can things get worse?” Jesus said those days will be so deceptive, it will be hard for the elect to not be misled. Jesus gave the warning to take heed. This means to beware, to perceive, to regard. This is only done through proper discernment of His Word. In order to not be deceived, you need to study and know the Bible for yourself.
This all sounds so dismal. But the final victory will belong to Jesus when He will gather all His people together. This is the hope and comfort all children of God have.
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT: “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18).
