The Foundation and Fruits of Faith
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler,” Psalm 91:1-4.
Faith in God is the only way to receive eternal life; yet, knowing Him offers so much more than eternal life. When we are saved, we are never promised a life absent of trouble. In fact, we are assured that we will face dark valleys as we journey with God. Yet, we are given an extraordinary promise that He will never abandon us nor leave us alone.
This psalm paints a beautiful picture of the presence of God in the middle of life’s trials. He is ever-present through the valleys, the tumultuous storms and the relentless attacks of the enemy.
These verses also describe the comforting protection of God in the middle of turmoil. As a mother hen protects her young from impending harm, God covers us with His feathers and shelters us under His wings.
God also offers peace through our troubles by sustaining us with His truth. When Satan is hurling his lies into your soul, you can find eternal peace in the pages of Scripture. When fear and anxiety come, run to the peace found in the pages of God’s Word.
I could share with you the stories of many dark days from the pages of my life in recent years. Yet, amidst those stories would be the glories of God’s presence, protection and peace He gave to me. These are available to every child of God through His Spirit and His Word.
DAILY REMINDER
God’s children can rest assured that He is an ever-present help in time of need.
