Barnabas and the Converts

“Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen
travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto
the Jews only. And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were
come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus,” Acts 11:19, 20.

We still do something in the church where I am a member. We go out in the community knocking on doors. Mostly, the door knocking is random. We are not there because we have a particular reason, but only because a home is there, and it is on our path of travel. We are a diverse area, and all types of people live around here. One thing we learned quickly is that some people would not even listen to certain other people. To some, I might look like someone official, who was looking to get them in trouble. My door knocking partner might appear to others as someone there to cause them trouble. In another place, the opposite might be true.

We cannot all reach every person because sometimes we may not even get the chance to speak with them. That is just how the world is. The world is full of people who are very different from one another; the churches are reflections of that. If only a select few people attempt to reach out in a community, the only folks who will be reached are those who will respond to those few. What about the others? What about the people who need another voice to listen to? The answer to these questions is simple. Everybody can reach somebody, but everybody has to be reaching out. God has chosen the one person who can reach some other person. Who is your person and when are you going after them?

JUST A THOUGHT:Everyone needs to hear exactly the same message, but who delivers it and how he delivers it can change from person to person.
