Israel’s Rebellion Against God

There is a phrase some use: “I may not tell you what you want to hear, but I will tell you what you need to hear.” I knew a Realtor who did often. What she meant was that her clients would always get the truth from her. During the process of spending the money a home costs, truth matters a lot. Sometimes truth would cost the opportunity to have a particular client; folks would just move along to a Realtor who would affirm what they wanted to hear. This was especially true with sellers; rather than give an honest estimate of value to a seller, some agents would just rubber stamp a homeowner’s idea of the value of their home.

The religious world is full of those who will say anything to keep a crowd. We can have, “Our best life now!” Some tell Biblical truth, and the crowds attracted are far smaller. Not only are the crowds smaller, but sometimes the crowds are hostile to us. We do not see Christians in our land being killed for their truth preaching, but it happens elsewhere in the world. It was what would happen to Stephen before he even finished his preaching!

The gospel is an offence to the lost. God’s Word teaches that. We are to do all thins in love, and we do not want to be just random jerks; yet, preaching the gospel in all of its reality will make some folks mad. Are we willing to do it anyway?

Just a Thought: Telling people the truth about sin, and their need for salvation, may hurt their feelings. I may even harm us; yet, that is our command to do.
