Peter Restores Life to Dorcas

“Jerry was the leader in his village. He had overseen much improvement and was loved by all the people. Through his prowess at working various government agencies, he had managed to get electricity for the island. He had also brokered the deal for construction of a fine dock for landing ships with passengers and cargo bound to and from distant General Santos City in the deep southern Philippines. Jerry was my friend. But he was sick. Cancer had overwhelmed his body and Jerry was dying. While he lived and right up until he died, He continued helping his people. Near the end, even I was a beneficiary of his kindness. I can never forget my friend.” —Memoirs of a Missionary, Glen Knight

Without question, we all know what it is to lose a loved one in death. We understand the emptiness that is left when that absence settles upon us, as often we search and even imagine seeing or hearing the one who is now gone. Returning to familiar places or seeing special things that were made, are often too difficult. Imagine the true difficulty if such circumstances had to be faced without hope! But we have hope in The Lord. The promise that, “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” (Psalms 30:5) is a special comfort to all who trust in Him! God’s power to heal and to restore is apparent in many ways. For example, we may pray for the recovery of our loved one who is slowly passing away. We must remember that recovery will be on God’s terms and sometimes, that healing comes in the absolute form of death in this world and life in Heaven.

An Amazing Truth! Are you wondering what lies beyond your horizon? The Lord Jesus knows!
