The Suffering and Rejoicing

“The night was electric with potential to preach to hundreds of people who gathered in the park, situated between two one-way streets, each flanking the length of the grassy plaza. A simple stage dominated one end of the park which served very well to set up our sound equipment and lighting and front and center, the pulpit that we carried along with us in the covered, flatbed truck. Throughout the afternoon we had blanketed the town with leaflets, inviting the people to attend. Footwork done ahead of time had secured the proper permit, we thought. But alas, just before time to begin and with a large number of people present, the police descended upon us.”—Memoirs of a Missionary, Glen Knight

There is little doubt that Satan wants to silence the witness of Jesus Christ in our world. And that, with good reason. His plan is to usurp the Lord’s authority which is a failed plan from the start, but still through threatening and violence, he will bluff his way along and sadly, silence as much of the holy witness as possible. The net result of that will be that many people turn away from the Truth. However, God’s people have an unseen strength to be often called upon in times of difficulty—The Holy Spirit Who abides with us always! He gives words to speak as well, He gives a reasoning that cannot be resisted, through an on-the-spot wisdom. For The Holy Ghost shall teach you in that same hour what ye ought to say” (Luke 12:12). It’s not a matter of courage on our part. But it is a question of faith in The Lord through dangerous times.

An Amazing Truth! We cannot avoid conflict with the world, but we can face it with absolute trust!
