Protection and Paradise of God
“There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High,” Psalm 46:4.
Perspective is a very powerful thing. How we view this life will determine our response to the situations we face. In the book of 2 Kings, Elisha’s servant became extremely fearful when he saw a great army of horses and chariots surrounding the city. Understandably, he was alarmed and inquired of Elisha as to what they were going to do about their dire circumstances. Elisha then prayed, “Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see” (2 Kings 6:17). How amazing the sight must have been. Elisha’s servant was then able to see the mountain filled with horses and chariots of fire much greater and mightier than the Syrian army. God’s army was already in place, protecting Elisha from harm.
Our God is a protector of His people. He desires us to be people of courage, able to face the challenges of life, having faith that He will be with us. When we keep our spiritual eyes open and our sights on eternity, the weight becomes much easier to bear. Our citizenship is in Heaven and this world is not our home. With eternity in view and a focus on Christ, our mind will be at peace, and the fear will melt away.
It may be time for you to pray for the Lord to open your spiritual eyes. Instead of looking through the lens of fear and worry, see your life through faith in the all-powerful God above. Rather than focusing on the temporary things around you, dwell on eternal things. We have such a beautiful home in Heaven with a loving Lord and Savior who awaits our arrival. What is there to fear? Rest in His love and protection.
REFLECTION
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee” (Isaiah 26:3).
