Blessing of Knowing God

“Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD,” (Jeremiah 9:23-24).

Once I was trying to talk to my boss about the Lord and I was trying to relay to him some of the blessings I had received over the years. He tried to explain away my blessings as just coincidences that everyone has in their life. He could not believe that there was a God that was involved in our lives or that was busy blessing us, but that I just must be lucky. I proceeded to tell him that I was not that lucky but that I indeed was fortunate to have a Lord and Savior that loved me and wanted only the best for me.

Often in this life, people brag on what they have accomplished or what they have attained. When was the last time you just heard someone brag on God? I find it depressing how that so many people just do not know and understand how God works, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding,” (Proverbs 9:10). I personally feel sorry for people that do not know the Lord or for the children of God that do not seem to have anything to glory in God about other than their salvation, though that is truly something to give God glory for. Oh, that God’s people could truly relay the blessings of knowing Him to others.

JUST A THOUGHT: Maybe if we did not just sing about counting our blessings but actually counted ourselves blessed by God, maybe others could begin to see and hear how He has made a difference in our lives.
