Effects of Godly Mothers
“When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also,” 2 Timothy 1:5.
Julie trembled in the darkness. She was absolutely terrified. A flash of lightning, then two more quickly behind it! She tried to count to see how far away it was, like Dad had taught, only to be interrupted by the booming thunder announcing the streak had hit just outside. She shrieked! The rain continued to pound, and the wind howled ferociously.
Sometimes we need a little nudge to remind us of the people that sovereign God has placed into our lives. Some simply speak into your life. Others have poured much of themselves into you. Only God himself knows all the prayers prayed by those who tousled our hair or hugged us tenderly. We all need these people. So many people, both young and old, do not know a healthy touch or an encouraging word. There are so many widows and orphans for us to practice our religion on as the Apostle James encourages us. We love on people for the sake of Jesus and isn’t that where we find purpose and exercise our own courage?
Julie's mother opened the door. Light spilled into the room as if a powerful hand had swept away the darkness. "There is no need to be afraid, sweety,” Mom said calmly. “I love you, Jesus loves you and we are both right here.”
THOUGHT: God has placed you into someone’s life so that they will not have a spirit of fear but rather of power of love and a sound mind.
