Prayer Concerning God’s Purpose
“Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power,” 2 Thessalonians 1:11.

We rarely see trials coming off in the distance. Trials can sneak up on us in the sweetest seasons of life and cause us to be shaken to our core. When we are unsteady from the sudden onslaught of a hardship, we ought to immediately seek God in prayer. When we pray, we can lean on God’s power to carry us through the duration of the trial.
As trials continue on with no end in sight, we may wonder why God has allowed us to endure certain conflicts. Prayer is not only our greatest source of strength; it is also the path to understanding God’s purpose in the trial. When we look through weary human eyes at our circumstances, we may miss what God is doing. But through prayer, we can gain God’s perspective of why He has sent us through the trial at hand.
Many times, God will take us through trials that are beyond our ability to understand or handle in our strength. These are the times when He gets glory from our lives as He shines through our weaknesses. We must learn to seek Him in prayer to reveal His purpose to us and unleash His power through us.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
When trials come, we should fall to our knees in prayer to seek God for His power and for His purpose in the trials.
